Long Week

It's been an exhausting week. We had our first round of swimming lessons, a dentist appointment, and a party to plan. On top of that it's a huge week at work for my client (who shall remain nameless because they're huge, rich, and well known). It's their Annual Enrollment cycle for benefits and it's full of big changes for their employees which means even bigger challenges for us to implement for them. Anyways, I've been working hard all along but this week was a push-week. Busy days and hours at home in the evening logged on with my co-workers. And even worse to top that, my employer went through another round of layoffs, or "reduction in force" as they call it, on Tuesday. It's the fourth round in a year. I personally know 5 people let go this time, a couple of those I interacted with daily. You know that feeling of sharks circling closer and closer and you don't know if you're next to be pulled under? That's the feeling I have.
Thankfully I took a three day weekend so maybe I can get some sleep, relax, and not think about impending doom at work (employment and client satisfaction-wise). Yeah, and probably have some wine and cake. A power combo if there ever was.
Next week, more work, swimming lessons, and a 1 year check-up.
